Mike is an Arizona native and resident of Pinal County for 15 years. As the representative for District 2, he represents the majority of San Tan Valley and has served in this capacity since 2017. His District has a smaller geographical footprint in comparison to others across the County but is the most densely populated, with close to 100,000 residents. He has served on various boards and commissions during his time as Supervisor, and his most recent appointment has been to the Pinal County Health Benefits Trust.
In Goodman's professional career, he brings valuable experience, including 30 years as an independent insurance broker statewide, a small business owner, and farming right here in San Tan Valley. His work with school districts, municipalities, and county governments as an independent broker/consultant for employee benefits gave him a valuable perspective on inner community and government workings. His time as a small business owner and years devoted to farming has given him insight into the rural and small business needs of Pinal County. Since 2008 his career has taken Goodman to every county throughout the state assisting the disabled and elderly in navigating the Medicare / Medicaid programs.
His vision for District 2 is what motivated him to run for office – to enhance our residents' quality of life through strengthening current infrastructure – including utilities, roads, and economic development - and to strategically plan for a better future. District 2 faces unique challenges as one of the largest unincorporated communities across the United States. Without the resources of an incorporated city, Goodman has had to identify creative solutions in meeting resident needs. His apparition is to unite the community in this effort and lead with hard work and optimism.
He has a strong focus on strengthening families and providing opportunities for our youth. This stems from a rich family heritage where his father, who was a judge, founded the Arizona Youth Rough Riders. AYRR helped troubled youth find purpose in the care of wild mustangs. Goodman has spent many volunteer hours working with youth in scouting, coaching sports, and mentoring.
Between Mike and his wife Alice, they are parents to 12 children and grandparents to 29. Alice is a registered nurse who retired from 20 years in the NICU. Mike's hobbies are spending time with his children and grandchildren and supporting their sports and dance activities. He is known to "supervise" many a work project for any child who finds themselves idle.
