As part of the Smart and Safe Arizona Act (Prop 207) passed by Arizona voters in 2020, a percentage of the tax revenue raised from recreational marijuana sales is earmarked for funding local law enforcement agencies.
Recently, the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety awarded the Pinal County Sheriff's Office with $65,415.66 from Prop 207 revenue funding.
Those funds have been used to purchase two BMW Enforcement motorcycles each equipped with speed radar. PCSO will be deploying these new motorcycles throughout Pinal County for high visibility traffic enforcement.
"Thanks to Prop 207 funds, the PCSO Traffic Unit can continue their mission of protecting Pinal County motorists from impaired or reckless drivers," said Sheriff Mark Lamb.
