Over the last several years, Detectives with the Pinal County Sheriff's Office have been dedicated to investigating internet crimes against children and arresting child predators.
But the problem continues to escalate here in the United States. Last year, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received 32 million cybertips of cases concerning child sexual abuse material. This is up from 22 million in 2020, and 4 million in 2014.
Going forward, the PCSO will be doubling the amount of resources we put towards working exclusively on these cases and protecting our children.
"We cannot stand for this as a society and we certainly won't stand for it here in Pinal County," said Sheriff Mark Lamb.
