Thomas Riley Richard Ramsdell, born June 1, 1947, in Providence, RI, passed away in Mesa, on June 7, 2023, at the age of 76, surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
From West Warwick, RI, Tom was a proud veteran who served in the Army from 1967-1971, stationed in Germany. After his military service, Tom moved to Denver to attend the University of Colorado, where he majored in Political Science. He began a successful career as a home builder and general contractor with expertise in planning and zoning, land development, and construction management.
From 1977-1985 Tom was the Assistant Vice President of Construction for Medema Homes of Colorado. In 1986, Tom's career brought his family to Arizona, where he continued to build homes first as the Vice President for Renaissance Homes in Chandler, then as President of Country Walk Homes for 13 years in Casa Grande, AZ, where he led the development of several communities in Chandler, Casa Grande and other areas within Pinal County. Professionally, nothing brought Tom more joy than opening the doors of homeownership to families while also inspiring his colleagues, co-workers, and business associates to be the best they could be.
Tom's passion for giving back to his community was evident in his commitment to service. He served as a member of the Pinal County Merit System Commission, Public Safety Retirement Board, and Law Enforcement Merit Council. Additionally, Tom was a long-time board member and volunteer for Against Abuse, the Veterans Memorial Foundation, Pinal County Republicans' Club, and the Casa Grande Elementary School District Board.
