[ARCHIVED] May 1-5 is Arizona Heat Awareness Week

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, almost 3,500 heat-related deaths have occurred in Arizona from 2011 to 2022. 
In 2022 alone, a record of 671 heat-related deaths occurred. Additionally, every summer, around 3,000 people visit hospital emergency departments due to Arizona heat.

The best way to beat the heat is to stay informed on extreme heat safety actions as well as the impacts and illnesses associated with heat exposure. Learn to recognize the symptoms of heat illness and be on the lookout for them.
