[ARCHIVED] Pinal County uses HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) funding to build affordable housing

Habitat for Humanity

Pinal County Board of Supervisors is partnering with Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona to provide two Pinal County families a place to call their forever home. Pinal County contributed $200,000 of its HOME funds toward constructing two single-family homes in Coolidge and Arizona City.

Pinal County receives HOME funding annually from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). The HOME Program was created under Title II of the National Affordable Housing Act of 1990 to expand the supply of decent and affordable housing for low-income persons. Habitat homes are built through a partnership between a family and the community. A qualifying family pays for their home with a no-interest loan and a down payment of 200 to 400 sweat-equity hours. This model keeps the up-front costs and monthly housing payments low while allowing low-income families to own their own homes.

Supervisor Jeffrey McClure and a Pinal County Office of Budget and Finance Grants Division representative attended the Wall Signing Ceremonies in Arizona City on February 25, 2023, and Coolidge on March 3 rd, 2023.

Stay tuned to see the homes completed, and the families receive the keys to their forever home.

Pinal County looks forward to a continuing partnership with Habitat for Humanity and building additional affordable housing in Pinal County.
