Drainage Ordinance Update

Drainage Ordinance, 1998 (PDF)Pinal County is in the process of updating its Drainage Ordinance which has been in effect since 1998. The County's intent is to create a functional Drainage Ordinance that:

  • Reflects the desired County balance between the promulgation of practical, modern-day drainage regulations that are also complimentary to economic develop initiatives
  • Enhances County property values
  • Reduces County and property owner mitigation costs
  • Yields greater continuity and efficiency in the administration of the Drainage Ordinance in the County's development review process

New Draft Drainage Ordinance (PDF) Opens in new windowThe update to the Drainage Ordinance began in 2017 and included presentations to the Pinal County Board of Supervisors, the formation of an External Stakeholder Committee, and opportunities for public comment.

The updated Ordinance will be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and adopted by the Board of Supervisors in 2022.

The Flood Control District is still accepting public comments on the draft ordinance.
